PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Day one (Monday, September 19th) will open with the keynote speaker presenting the role of electricity in energy transition. We recognize that electricity is only one component of our energy transition but that it has been identified as a significant opportunity decarbonizing our infrastructure. The Canadian government’s energy data has identified 74% opportunity in decarbonizing our energy systems through cleaner generation transportation and building uses. Some of the opening questions specific to intensive electrification include the role of the utility going forward, the readiness of the grid itself, and the impact to those businesses and employees who work in the fossil fuel industry today.
The remainder of day one will identify opportunities and challenges within the ecosystem specifically focusing on business cases, our generation system, storage, energy uses, and grid readiness itself.
Day two (Tuesday, September 20th) will focus on real life examples of organizations who are dealing with these topics. The morning will open with an opportunity for project owners to showcase their energy transition projects, and discuss their progress, benefits, and results. We’re inviting stakeholders to reveal the “weaknesses” in our energy market landscape today - and asking perceived “disruptors” to the existing status quo to help lead discussions on change and alternative solutions.
We’ll be hearing from companies who have pivoted from their legacy energy providers to create their own solutions, as well as utilities who are leading the charge in providing the alternative energy solutions their customers are looking for.
