Program Overview

Meet Our Keynote Speaker: Sรธren Hermansen

Sรธren Hermansen was born and raised on Samsรธ, an island in Denmark where he has been the driving force in the transition towards 100% renewable energy for the entire island. Since 2007 the island has been self-sufficient and 100% carbon-neutral. Furthermore, the island now supplies surplus energy to Jylland, on the mainland of Denmark. In 2009 Sรธren was awarded the Goteborg Award, also known as โ€˜environmental Nobel prizeโ€™, for his work with sustainable energy on Samsรธ.

Today, Sรธren is leading and managing the Samsรธ Energy Academy, a place for learning, meeting, and networking for the future energy transition. His knowledge and experience garnered from his work with sustainable energy on Samsรธ earned him the honour of being named one of the worldโ€™s โ€˜Top 10 environmental heroesโ€™ by TIME Magazine.
